Cinco de Mayo is often a day filled with Mexican food, margaritas, and for law enforcement, mayhem. Says Sergeant Fred Swank with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, “I believe it’s 43 percent of traffic crashes on May 5th were DUII or were alcohol or drug related.” That’s why local law enforcement is beefing up Cinco de Mayo patrols in an attempt to keep drunk drivers off the roads.
